Formulation of preparations requires having the proper equipment and technique. Our compounding lab is equipped with all the necessary tools to compound a pharmaceutically elegant product including an electronic mortar and pestle (Unguator), and an ointment mill which reduces particle sizes and provides a smooth final product.

Below is a short list of many of the most commonly requested dermatological preparations. While this is certainly not a comprehensive list, this represents a good starting point.

Bleaching Creams also known as Tri-Hydro-Ret

These usually consist of hydroquinone + retinoic acid + triamcinolone,hydrocortisone,or various other steroids. Pavilion Compounding Pharmacy has 100’s of variations of this popular skin whitener. Percentages of hydroquinone range from 2% up to over 12%. We can also include kojic acid, green tea, and others depending on your doctor’s requirements.

For those of you looking for Dr. Isaac Willis’ popular Tri-Hydro-Ret formulations, our compounding pharmacists have obtained the formulas and have been making this for several years. We mourn the loss of Dr. Willis and acknowledge the contribution Dr. Willis made to dermatology. We compound all formulas including Trihydroret in regular and extra strengths.  Another popular bleaching agent, Tri-Luma®, currently on manufacturing delay, is also compounded with the exact active ingredients.

Acne Preparations

For this area of dermatology your prescriber has tremendous options. Most common are compounds using retinoic acid, clindamycin, erythromycin, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, steroids, dapsone,and clotrimazole. All of the above can be custom blended for your specific type of acne. We can work closely with your dermatologist to formulate your preparation. Many times the cost of our compound is far below the commercial products on the market. Call for our prices and ability to include multiple drugs in one compound. Eczema, Psoriasis

Steroids are the most commonly used in various percentages and potencies of the active drug. With pediatric patients we have seen very good results from a cyancobalamin (vitamin B-12) cream combined with oil of evening primrose.  If you want to avoid the use of steroids for your child, you will be amazed at the healing power of the above formulation.  Again, introducing Probiotics, reducing dairy and sugar are just as important to helping with many skin conditions.  A healthy Gastro Tract is very important to the overall health of the skin.

Anesthetics(Numbing Compounds)

These include benzocaine, lidocaine, prilocaine, tetracaine or BLT,in many different concentrations and forms. When your procedure calls for a block on pain we can provide the necessary compound. Different bases can be used to enhance penetration and also to work better with laser therapy.  Ask our pharmacists which would be the best type of base for your procedure.

Anti-Aging- Co-Q-10-Green Tea-DMAE-Lipoic Acid

Phototherapy- Methoxsalen(Oxsoralen™), currently on manufacturer back order can be compounded in both the Topical Solution, as well as the oral capsule.
